The Nigerian platform of the West African Civil Society Forum (WACSOF), in a presentation to the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja on Saturday, June 11, 2022, requested the support of regional MPs for the establishment of ECOWAS clubs in schools in Member States to carry the vision of the community institution far and wide and to promote the dissemination of its policies among the youth.
According to the coordinator of the Nigerian platform of WACSOF, David Sanwo Olatunji, it is to help ECOWAS achieve its objectives that WACSOF was created to federate West African civil society organizations, with the mission of strengthening the capacities of these Member Organizations, to advocate, mobilize, formulate and implement the monitoring and evaluation of policies
It is precisely in order to better contribute to the ECOWAS mission that FOSCAO came to ask for the support of the ECOWAS Members of Parliament to create ECOWAS clubs in the schools of the Community space in order to bring further information on the programmes and policies implemented by the West African Organization.
The presentation was followed by a debate whose main point was the problem of the means to set up these clubs and the possibility that these clubs could exist in each of the ECOWAS Member States.
